1980s Music

The Greatest Musical Era Ever

What was the best musical decade ever. Was it the 60′s, with it’s teddy boys, mods, swinging sound tracks or bubble gum pop? Was it the 70′s with it’s funk, soul and disco? Was it the 1980s music with it’s electro, theatrics, soft rock, rap and dance? Or was it the 90′s, with it’s grunge, polished pop, jungle, house & techno?

I am leaving out the 00′s for now as the jury’s still out and whether any new musical genres of any importance came about. The oo’s have now become the age of commercially terrible music. You only have to look at how very little records you need to sell, or rather have downloaded to make it to the apex of the charts.

What about the 1930′s with its jazz and blues movements? We’ll leave them out for the moment and concentrate on our commercial intentions.

The decade that usually gets the most airplay these days is the 1980s music. Probably due to the generation x and baby boomers now having matured and needing to relive their teens again. But also in part thanks to the huge range of music and film from this area that had the sound tracks of our lives. Music SEO marketing exec’s know this and keep releasing compilations and pulling retired band members out of the closet to perform large reunion tours.

The 80′s is my favorite decade for 1980s music. The bands were bigger. They didn’t come from talent shows, because they had talent. They weren’t known for being on a television show and only having one song because they could not truly sign or perform as an artist. They were famous because they could sing, dance, write good pop songs or at the very least look good.

The 80′s was as famous due to the outfits and dress clothes as the music. The two went together. The New Romantics swept in the start of the 80′s. Britain had come out of punk and hard rock in the latter 70′s and moved into a dressy up age. Boys wore make up galore with extremely showy outfits. Hair went long, fluffy flannel shirts and thigh high boots went on, and that was just the men.

By the end of the 80′s the dress sense extremities died down after getting too stupid for too long, but at least we had that golden time period were everyone performed brilliantly in being stupid. Not like today’s world were everybody is so real and series, oh but yep talking about sex in the club all day. Yup right. That’s why we have got the nostalgia of the 80′s and all of the great 1980s music. It gets so much airtime because today’s music is rubbish.

I was hoping you enjoyed this music debate. Make efforts to leave some marketing comments on my info blog.
